I've loved this paranormal series from the beginning. Most of the things the guys have had to deal are defiantly in that realm. This time the hero's struggles were more human. Addiction. It wasnt surprising that Micah Chase had become an addict after all the torture and disfigurement he went through in the past. One could say Micah really shouldnt be alive but by a miracle he is and trying to readjust to life with his teammates and fellow shifters. He sometimes wishes he would have just died in that laboratory instead of being rescued. Even though he has his sister and brother in law as family he feels like a freak and is lonely. He sparks to life one night when he meets his bond mate Jacee who is a coyote shifter who lost her family and her pack in the brutal attack years ago.In each of these books the guys have some form of paranormal being that they have to fight. That was the case again here but this one has ties to Micah's past when he had been held prisoner.
One of the best things about this series has always been the ensemble cast of characters. They always play a huge part in each book and back each other up at all times.
I'm glad that Micah finally got his HEA and was able to conquer his inner demons. This was not the best or the strongest book in the series but still an enjoyable read.

Chase the Darkness Alpha Pack JD Tyler Books Reviews
J.D. you have done it again with a great alpha pack story. I am a follower of the series and wish you would conjure up more novels. The novels are hot blooded moving entities that draw the reader into the storyline and takes them over to the end page. The super soldier's that the author has created in these novel brings a new meaning to fantasy. With hot romance and humorous bantering between the characters. Worthy read if you enjoy enhancer shifters of the different kind.
I love this series. Cliffhangers are no fun, but it appears the series is not over yet, so it is worth it.
I love character that find redemption. I adore flawed heros and heroines. Maybe that is why this series draws me. The characters are good people, but not all the time. They have weaknesses, flaws and problems.
I love how the author weaves in the strength of loving/passionate relationships, friendships and teammates to a belieable community of dedicated people. Each story has a beginning and a conclusion, but there is a larger overall ongoing plot that ties them all together.
The broken solider Micah will have more tough times ahead before he can have his Happyness with his new mate Jaycee. She is a tough cookie in her own right, orphan at 13 believing that all her family was dead so she survived after high school. People saw her differently as her ex 's£ut, a fellow pack brother, but she won't let that define her. She have felt connection to Micah since she started working in the Grizzly bear when she first saw him. He so broken with scars inside and out and thinking he is not the right man to have the perfect Jaycee in his arms, will he become better for her or will he revert into his old habits.
I really enjoy the Alpha Pack series. Each book can be stand alone, but really make sense reading all of them in order. Wolves, panther, fae, necromancer, eagles, vampires and many other paranormals make up this series but the core is about the Alpha Pack -- tough warriors protecting humans from evil creatures. Micah Chase leads this novel fighting his many demons from his months of physical and emotional torture at the hands of mad scientists out to make him (and others) super soldiers. Back home with his pack, he struggles with addiction, pain and nightmares. And then he finds his mate. And the story really gets going with budding love, intimacy (and, of course with the Alpha Pack), fighting evil. This book is not way high on suspense or horrid violence and the sexual scenes are somewhat graphic. However, this is what the series is about -- fighting the bad guys, facing one's own demons, and hopefully finding HEA in spite of it all. Suits me just fine.
Micah was presumed dead, instead he was being held captive by mad scientist. Mad scientists who would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. The only way Micah could get the torture to stop was by doing the things that were asked of him. He fought them, he fought them with everything he had but at times he gave in to them. Since being rescued he has been haunted by the things he did in captivity. The doctors developed a drug, one that was supposed to help him keep the nightmares at bay. Instead, he now has another problem to add to the long list of his problems.
One night while out with his team at the local bar, he interferes when regulars get a little rough with a waitress, Jacee. This waitress just so happens to be a coyote shifter and Micah’s mate. They recognize the connect right away but know that there are obstacles in their way. Micah’s stuff, the fact that Jacee had previously been involved with another Alpha pack member and finding out what the newest threat to the world wants does make it difficult to be together.
Micah is the kinda character that you want to cheer for but you tend to not have a lot of faith on his follow through. I worried that he made promises he couldn’t keep. I loved how loyal he was to Jacee since she is his mate. I stressed over his health and his choices. I got angry when he let Jacee and his team down. Ultimately though, I hoped he would get the happily ever after that he needed.
Jacee was a fun character to spend time with. Her lot in life has been hard, often times not worth it. She is always true to herself though. She knows that there is something wrong with Micah but doesn’t know what. She is a spitfire when it comes to him. She doesn’t allow him to get away with anything and I like that about her.
Chase the Darkness is a nice addition to the series. It moves the series along; it’s just that… well… I felt like it was missing something. I know I had high expectations for this story; I have been waiting on Micah’s story since I meet Rowan.
